Assistant Manager - Inventory
Job Description:
Operational Management
Own end-to-end inventory operations across all warehouses, ensuring SOP implementation,
governance, and continuous improvement with minimal deviation.
Act as the primary POC for WMS-related inventory workflows, resolving system issues promptly and
partnering with Tech and cross-functional teams on system/process enhancements.
Run a perpetual inventory / cycle-count program, drive root-cause investigation and CAPA on every
variance.
Publish a standard inventory-hygiene dashboard on a fixed cadence, covering daily exceptions, weekly
reviews, monthly scorecards, and improvement actions.
Plan and execute periodic wall-to-wall physical stock takes (annual/bi-annual) across all warehouses,
in addition to the ongoing cycle-count program, ensuring statutory and audit compliance.
Inventory Accuracy, Stock Health & Loss Prevention
Maintain location-SKU and value-weighted inventory accuracy at target levels; ensure bin/location
accuracy and correct put-away.
Ensure replenishment discipline at pick locations, coordinating with Planning to prevent stockouts at
active pick faces and overstocking at storage locations.
Conduct ageing analysis (30/60/90/180-day no-movement buckets); flag slow-moving, non-moving
and dead stock, coordinating liquidation, bundling or RTV with Category, Planning and Sales.
Monitor damage and shrinkage rates; drive root-cause analysis and manage disposition with timely,
documented write-off approvals.
Drive quick identification and resolution of operational exceptions (inventory mismatches, process
deviations, damage cases, blockers) to keep fulfilment seamless.
Shelf-Life, Data Hygiene & Compliance
Enforce FEFO (First-Expiry-First-Out) discipline and run a near-expiry early-warning system to reduce
expiry write-offs through timely intervention.
Govern GRN quality, accurate quantity, batch and expiry capture at inward and own SKU master-data
hygiene.
Own periodic reconciliation across WMS-ERP-Finance and marketplace/3PL nodes; close within
agreed timelines with 100% of variances investigated.
Ensure inventory valuation integrity, correct batch-level costing and value reporting so that WMS/ERP
stock values reconcile accurately with Finance books.
Maintain audit readiness (statutory, internal, marketplace) with full batch traceability and recall
readiness; ensure returns are quarantined, classified and re-inducted or written off within TAT.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Team Enablement
Train and mentor warehouse teams on inventory SOPs, driving consistent adherence to standardized
workflows.
Act as the single cross-functional interface for inventory matters with Procurement, Planning, Finance,
QC and E-commerce/Marketplace teams.
